Roasting a Thanksgiving Turkey

Roasting a Thanksgiving Turkey
Here is my favorite way to roast a Thanksgiving turkey. I do not have a fancy recipe and always enjoy adding more spices to it but this is my go to method. I always use a charcoal grill but this can be done in a cookstove.

Directions

Thaw your turkey;

  #1. Put it in your fridge to thaw 3 to 7 days before your Thanksgiving meal. The big turkeys can take nearly a week to completely thaw out.

#2  If you missed this step you can also place it in a heavy paper bag and keep it at room temperature. This can take up to 24 hours. The paper bag keeps the outside of the turkey from getting to warm.

  Prep on Roasting day;

  #1 Pat the turkey dry with a paper towel and place in a pan with sides.

  #2 Rub butter over the turkey. I usually don't spare here! (You can also melt the butter and pour it over the turkey)

  #3  Sprinkle 3 to 4 tablespoons apple cider vinegar and also a teaspoon of salt over the turkey.  Add some black pepper if desired.

  #4 (optional) Stuff the turkey! I use bread chunks, carrots, lemon slices, celery, and radishes.

  Roasting the turkey;

  #1  Heat the grill to 450 degrees.

  #2  Place the turkey on the grill (keep it in the pan) and turn the heat down to 350 degrees.

  #3  Roast the turkey for 12 to 15 minutes per pound or until the internal temp of the breast is 175 degrees.

  #4  Remove from grill and wrap tightly in foil, or put a tight lid on the pan.

   Serve and enjoy!

  We enjoy the stuffings with the turkey and serve it with a side of mashed potatoes. Pour the broth from the turkey over the potatoes as a gravy.

  Enjoy your turkey! Let me know if you enjoyed it.
