Packed with nutrients for protecting the immune system, our colostrum is the first milking from our cows after giving birth. Depending on the cow, it may have more colostrum or more milk content. (That's why we make the distinction for 1st milking which is higher in colostrum content than the 2nd and 3rd milking.) Not altered in any way. Sold frozen.
The health of our herd is our first priority, so the newborn calf gets first dibs on its mother's colostrum for its health. Colostrum is expressed from the mother for 2 - 3 days after birth.
Colostrum (kuh-loss-trum) is the first milk cows (and all mammals) produce and plays an important role in building the body's immune system. It's high in protein, vitamins, minerals and immunoglobulins (antibodies). It's often called "liquid gold" because of its rich, golden color and benefits.
Colostrum is high in protein and low in fat and sugar. It's filled with white blood cells that produce antibodies. These antibodies strengthen the immune system, protecting from infection. Colostrum is highly concentrated and nutrient-dense even in tiny doses.
