"For Cats & Dogs"

Labeling can be confusing and make you wonder about whether something is good for you, especially when it says "For Cats & Dogs"! Of course, some pet owners feed their pets like they are kings (and we understand!) But here's why we have to put that label on our raw butter, heavy cream and colostrum.

In Pennsylvania, and some other states, we have some strange laws regarding raw products made from raw milk even though Farmstead Acres is licensed to sell raw milk for human consumption.

Pennsylvania state regulations only allow the sale of raw fluid milk, (which doesn't include heavy cream or colostrum) but the good news is that soon, the state should allow for raw butter sales for human consumption too! Whatever the state decides, we want to assure you that all our products are made to human consumption standards, but unfortunately we need to sell it as pet food. We use the same tested and inspected raw milk that is on our shelves to make all our dairy products, and everything is prepared in our facility following proper testing, sanitization, and cleaning practices. For more details on PA law, go here:https://www.realmilk.com/real-...

The "for cats & dogs" label is purely a regulatory requirement—not a reflection of our product quality or safety standards. And, our family, from senior citizens down to infants, enjoys the health benefits of all our raw dairy. And before pasteurization, for hundreds of years, all people did.

We know that raw milk, milk that comes from our 100% grass-fed, pasture-raised A2A2 Jersey cows, full fat and unprocessed, contains numerous bioactive components that keep you safe:

1. Kill pathogens in the milk (lactoperoxidase, lactoferrin, leukocytes, macrophages, neutrophils,antibodies, medium chain fatty acids, lysozyme, B12 binding protein, bifidus factor, beneficial bacteria)

    2. Prevent pathogen absorption across the intestinal wall (polysaccharides, oligosaccharides, mucins, fibronectin, glycomacropeptides, bifidus factor, beneficial bacteria);

    3. And strengthen the immune system (lymphocytes, immunoglobulins, antibodies, hormones and growth factors).

    I know, a lot of information, but important for your family's health. If you have any questions, I love to talk about our farming practices and the Real Food that we offer you, so just call me at the Farm Store.
